Over 10 years’ experience working for NIH and the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Under contract to NLM, PTFS has contributed millions of pages of digitized journal articles to PubMed Central since 2002.
PTFS is the current prime contractor for the Open Access Initiative. PTFS creates standard format Extensible Markup Language (XML) documents from submitted scientist’s papers. This initiative provides NIH and the general public free access to Government-sponsored scholarly research activities which previously could only be obtained through commercial vendors.
PTFS is a prime contractor on the Image World II IDIQ contract vehicle and has performed numerous delivery and task orders under this vehicle.
Developed a digital library and online portal for the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) beginning in 1995, and has supported ongoing functional enhancements to the digital library, as well as content expansion, for the past 15 years.
Currently serves as the primary development contractor to support the Government Printing Office’s Future Digital System (FDsys) project. When completed, FDsys will be one of the Government largest, full-text searchable digital repositories housing all officially published Federal documents since the birth of our country, and is estimated to reach 5 petabytes in size. PTFS was the primary contributor to the project and assumed responsibility for software development, testing support, and team infrastructure.
Since 1997, PTFS has provided outsourcing services to dozens of Government agencies. With diverse outsourcing capabilities contracts include 100 percent operation of the National Library of Education with 10 FTE librarians and technicians, contract administrator outsourcing for the Library of Congress, and declassification analysts for the Defense Intelligence Agency.
